Well, I preempt this by stating I recently got home from the Alegria party and am quite exhausted.
However, not quite being able to sleep yet, I thought I'd use this time to get our new blog in gear (as I notice jaybo has already done =)).
As he mentioned, '07 had it's share of challenges for many of us. Much of it was in reaction to events that occured and shaped our daily lives, and much of that having to to with loss (loss of a family member, job, apartment, and so on). However, there were lots of highs for '07 that cannot be discounted and we recalled several of them at our roundtable of preseco/mango/amaretto drinks.
What my main focus for '08 is to be more proactive in the events taking place. It is really time to shape the present in order to create a future that we strive for. This can mean different things for different people, but I for one am clear that I need to be more engaged in the direction and follow through of items that I claim and consider to be of importance.
As I spent 11 hours dancing, walking, and sitting, through the Alegria party, I really embraced the love and friends I have gained over the past year+. It has been a great gift to have met so many wonderful people that have helped shape and support my work. I spent time acknowledging the individuals that helped open this new world to me and really started to think how I can now use my time to the greatest benefit of reaching the goals that others (and I) see in me. Therefore, proactive, is the key term for me in '08. There is no real resolution beyond being engaged in shaping my circumstances. The people are there for me, now I need to make the other pieces work.
In addition to my 'clubbing' friends, I am blessed with this group on this blog. Your belief and support has been there from the moment Sue and I started dating and will never be overlooked or forgotten. None of what I am doing would be possible without all that you have put in to our efforts. So a sincere thank you to all as we wrap up this crazy year. I love you all dearly in different ways, but am honored to call you family.
Peace

a really great night
I am really glad that we went around the drunken table last night and reminded each other of why 2007 didn't suck. It had its moments or shall we say it was a year of (sometimes funny but mostly fucked up) extremes. Whether the new year of the rat proves to be a good one for all of us or not, at least we'll have recorded it in this nifty blog.
A note on our chosen name: Sue asked me to clarify why we chose Jumbo Remote. Well, Jumbo because we are larger than life and have an extensive collection of friends. Remote because we are not always together (or we are and don't remember) and have experiences that we want to share. We also may or may not have gotten the name from the packaging of a "Jumbo Remote" control with glow in the dark features my grandmother gave me for Christmas. Anywho, here's to us.
Off to a Slamming Start

Well our 2008 friends' story blog is off to a great start. After arriving at a consensus on the name, Jumbo Remote (Jay will explain in his post), we have gone off in upmteen million directions, as per usual, with a thousand other ideas. But that's why we love each other, and can have fun in a cornfield, as Mark says.
This blog will serve as our diary for the coming year. So that we can capture all of the highs and lows and Monday morning quarter-backing without missing a beat.
Happy writing and peace in 2008, Sue
